Just got one of these today for 5,699 had 87,000 had a full checkup on it via Pep Boys before driving off of lot… Pep Boys suggested New Break Pads, Oil change. They also suggested at 150k to get a major tune up… From what I understand jeeps are very reliable cars just have to maintain the upkeep….

@HONEYBCRISSY Yeah I have one and know people that own these. You have to be on top of maintenance with Jeeps, more so then other vehicles, Big spots to watch for is oil pressure{oil pumps aren’t uncommon to go bad and can cause excessive engine wear and damage if not treated fast},the 4X4 systems can act erratic if not properly maintained, the other Big spot is the transmission it won’t last long and shift properly if it isn’t serviced every 30,000 miles or so.

@640101vh Thanks, and as an up date I have had problems with this thing already… On my way to school the car just shuts off at a red light …. I let it sit after 3 lights the car finally starts…. on my way home from school which is a total of 15miles a way about 6 miles away from home in the middle of the intersection the car dies… Fuel pump is brand new so I knew that couldn’t be the prob.. It was the terminals to the batt according to Pep Boys….

@HONEYBCRISSY Any update on your vehicle? Did you get it fixed?

  12. HONEYBCRISSY October 1, 2010 at 11:55 pm #

@miltonautosales It’s been at a warrenty shop that the autoplace I purchase from is contracted with. It simply would not start or turn at all. It was dead for a couple of days and because of my busy schedule I did not have time to drive it down so I had AAA to tow it to the place. They have contacted me to let me know that the alternator was bad and that they should be done with it today to let me know of any other problems. To be safe, I will take it to a Jeep dealer shop to get a full check

  13. HONEYBCRISSY October 1, 2010 at 11:58 pm #

@miltonautosales I will update you with the results from the autoshop; as well, as from the Jeep Dealer. It’s just weird when I purchase the car the disclaimer at the auto place read there is no electrical problems with this car. They gave me an extra yr warrenty for free. I should of known but my ego wanted a 1999 Jeep, so I guess I have to deal with it…. Hopefully, things will turn out ok with it…..

  14. HONEYBCRISSY October 3, 2010 at 5:14 am #

@HONEYBCRISSY Well I am scheduled to take it in to a jeep dealer shop to get it checked before I drive it. I plan on having it towed there. The autoshop said it was fine everything was ok, but I heard that before and it still died. I am afraid to drive it for now. I rather have an ok from an expert on jeeps.

  15. HONEYBCRISSY October 8, 2010 at 9:51 am #

AS an update the jeep dealer informed me that I need a new Engine Controler and a skit or some computer code. So now I have to take it back to the warrenty place and demand them to fix it. The warrenty place told me that the car was fine and ok to drive. I bought this car about a month ago and already having major problems….

  16. HONEYBCRISSY October 8, 2010 at 10:06 am #

I was told that it took 6hrs to find the problem… So If the warrenty place says it is fine to drive and good to go, I will get it in writing, but if the car stops, I’ll take it back to the jeep dealer and get the works done or whatever is needed and make the warrenty place, that I paid for, pay for the Jeep dealerships service fees… What is an Control Engine anyway and why are there codes for the car?

  17. HONEYBCRISSY October 8, 2010 at 10:14 am #

@miltonautosales Ok I figured out what the ECM was, the funny thing about it is that the dealership that I purchased the car from informed me, in fact, put in writing that there was no eletrical problems with this car.. Pep boys found that it needed a new fuel pump and crank, the dealership completed the repairs needed, Pep boys OK’d it and a month later the ECM fails…. I can tell me and my jeep is going to have a love/hate relationship.

  18. miltonautosales October 8, 2010 at 11:29 am #

@HONEYBCRISSY Sorry to hear about your headaches. Grand Cherokees are typically pretty reliable but ECM’s on any 11 yr old vehicle can fail at any time. It is good that you have warranty at least. Once you get it running right, you are sure to love your Jeep. Good Luck!

Thanks, and sorry for filling your comment boxes with my dilemma….

  20. miltonautosales October 8, 2010 at 10:28 pm #

@HONEYBCRISSY It does not bother me that you have been communicating via the comment boxes. I hope that everything works out for you. When you get another vehicle in the future, contact me and I can help you.

2003 landrover discovery? SE7? Non-smoker? Try having someone watch your video to look it over so it is correct before you press submit. Or maybe you just dont care and are looking for a quick buck with selling lemons to people who have no clue….
