Can I interchange most of the parts froma 58 chevy and a 79 chevy? both pickups!?

I have a 1958 chevy Apache 3200 and a 1979 Chevy big ten. I would like to change almost all the parts from the 79 into my 58. I am curious if the axles and all other major components will interchange relatively easily or if major mods would have to take place to make it work! Please, let me know! I am really excited to get my 58 back on the road for many more years of enjoyment!

I've interchanged alot of later model parts to earlier vehicles. It depends on the 79 Chevy, is it a 4wd. You will run into some things that will need to be fabricated. But take your time and measure things carefully and you'll be fine. I did a swap a few years ago where I put a 50 Chevy Truck Body and Bed on a 75 Chevy frame. I had to cut, move, and reweld the cab mounts but it turned out great, and rode and drove awesome. If you have any more questions, please feel free to email me at lewispartscenter@yahoo.com.

I would probably say it can't be done because they are on two different set-ups.

    Best ask a Chevy mechanic.

no…how can you even think that is going to be possible..there is 20 years difference in the vehicles for one..

might have to drill holes or close some up on it and check the axles on both.

If it's not a 4 wheel drive then the rear end shouldn't be a problem as far as the gears go.Whether or not it will bolt up,your going to have to measure. You can always move or modify the shock mounts.Same way with everything else really.

depending on your budget you can swap anything to anything if ya want it bad enough.i like the 58 better myself.dont know if ya doin it yourself or having it done but do some serious measuring on the two chassis, make it safe above all.

You can dew anything if we put our minds to it…customizing and welding new parts is what its all about.lots of measuring
