Chevy CK Ignition question–Accessory position?

I bought a used 1973 4×4 Chevy 3/4 ton truck 10 years ago. I put in a new Chevy crate 350 motor a few years ago with solid state ignition. The truck was stock when I got it. The accessory position on the ignition switch does not seem to work. The radio won’t work unless the switch is in the "On" position and then the fan runs. Chevy used this switch arrangement for many years. Is this the right way this works?

I am asking because I am putting in a new stereo and it would be nice to have the accessory position run the stereo and not the fan too. I looked in the fuse box and nothing seems to come on when the switch is in the accessory position.

Sounds like you need to replace the ignition switch the diodes (lobes) inside for the accessory position not making good contact
