Did Mitsubishi have a 4×4 before the Pajero other than the jeeps they were contracted to produce?

Actually the Montero is the Pajero. Mitsubishi started producing them in 1982. I’m wondering if they had anything before the Pajero other than the jeeps they were making.
Thank you. I was just looking into vintage japanese vehicles but couldn’t find anything from Mitsubishi that was competion for things like the Nissan/Datsun Patrols and Toyota Landcruisers of the 60′s and 70′s.

  1. JetDoc says:

Mitsubishi built Japan’s first all-wheel drive passenger car in 1937 as a prototype for the Japanese military. Starting in 1951, they imported and assembled CJ-3B jeeps under license from Willys

    JetDoc is ABSOLUTELY correct.

The car was called the PX-33

I concur as well. That’s why Mitsubishi’s 4WD and AWD system is always technologically advanced. Mitsubishi is the grand daddy of the 4X4s.
