A friend of mine is a crew member of Adrian Cenni's pro-4 team. $200,000 is about right for one of these trucks….assuming all goes well.to run a truck will easilly run about half a million. However, just like any other motorsport, sponsorship is the key.I live not far from Crandon…..the best off-road track in the country. here are some alternatives…Jeff kinkaid is a pro-lite racer and that might be a way to go, there is also the sst division(sport truck-sportsman-2).

A bit less technology, and a bit less expensive.

The gearboxes alone can be as high as $16,000. These things aren't cheap, but many of the lower divisions are much more affordable. Some of the trucks are basically 4 wd Indy cars. Much of the technology is the same.

As far as affording one, I know many of the guys make a lot of money with businesses. The Herbst's own the Terrible Herbst chain of gas stations and Hotels/Casinos while the Baldwins and Renezeder do real estate/construction. I think Johnny Greaves and Curt LeDuc make some money building trucks for customers as well. But yeah, it's super expensive but so are most forms of racing.

You get what you pay for. Most people who race in thatleague have major sponsors or endless bank accounts. Basically your looking between 150k to 500k and you need to have tripple that in reserve to fund the racing and have spare parts.
