how much in parts alone should I expect to spend to have a 3.5 Liter V6 4X4 engine rebuilt?

This is for an SUV.

I need to know this because I am thinking of offering someone money to rebuild it for me, so I am trying to gauge how much his labor and expertise are worth. I am thinking that parts and machine shop work should be about 0 and the guy’s labor might be worth another 00. I am also assuming that it should take about 40 hours of his labor to do it, which works out to be about an hour.

Am I in the ball park??

Try to prepare a list of parts such as piston rings or a full piston kit including liners and rings etc..
