How much will my electric bill go up with a diesel pickup truck plugged in?

My husband bought an old pickup this last month and our electric bill is up 50 dollars, does it cost that much to have this truck plugged in? I think that is outrageous!! Please let me know what it costs to run your pickup. Thank you in advance. Ronda

For a block heater it could run that much easy. Is it really that cold still there? It’s 75 now in Mass and we’re always cold. Block heaters use about 1500W and that’s like running a room heater full blast in your livingroom.

And it is the end of March. $50 is a lot of hydro for a month, but even a block heater left on 24/7 will use less power than 1 load of laundry every 3 days Maybe even less than a daughter drying their hair for 10 min everyday. I have to leave my truck plugged in when it gets below – 20C so I can respond to the job. If you just use a timer so it comes on a few hrs before you need to leave than it need not run all night. You may also want to tell the old fart , that these things ran quite well before block heaters were used. And a block heater only means that the original system no longer works and needs help. Would help if you told us what the truck was. Probably a GM. They need all the help they can get . Mostly from neglect
