   Not really but:
   1. It is best to replace it with the same brand and model name (i.e. tread pattern) as the other tire. If the specific tire is no longer available ask the tire dealer to recommend an equivalent replacement or consider using the spare tire as a replacement if it is the same type and not a temporary spare. If the tire you are replacing still has some tread on it and is otherwise OK you could use it as a spare.
   2. Or, if the other tire looks like it will need replacing soon (within six months or so) it would be a good idea to replace both now.
   3. Finally, if either tire has an unusual wear pattern it would be best to have the front wheel alignment checked.

However, for those cases where this is not feasible, the new tires should always be placed on the rear axle of the vehicle. Generally, new tires with deeper tread will provide better grip and evacuate water more effectively, which is important as a driver approaches hydroplane situations. Placing greater traction on the rear axle on wet surfaces is necessary to prevent possible oversteer condition and possible loss of vehicle control, especially during sudden maneuvers.

   It’s better to replace tyres in pairs, same type and model!
