Its possible, you have to look for a model specific transmission adapter, and a suitable 4 or 5 cyl engine, check the link below for some ideas.

I don't see an easy way of implementing marine diesel into small pickup truck. It just something that doesn't belong there. There are numerous problems that will pop out for you to improvise toward the final goal - very fuel efficient p/u. Cooling, power transmission, differentials... You should know that marine diesel engine will burn much more fuel than if you use some other engine and improvise mounts and few other things. The resistance toward moving of a vehicle compared to a boat is a lot bigger and small marine wouldn't do the job. Bigger might but then you loose your starting idea for all this. Why not just find an old VW w/ diesel engine 1.6l and fit it in the truck. There is a movie in some European country as I can recall where dude is trying to make a PLANE powered with this engine. Of course... he failed... but then again... it's just a movie... :-)

it is posible your first problem is your state laws on inspection if none and no emissions inspection then its easy there are lots of 50 to 80 hp diesel engines yanmar kabouta etc you will need to injection pump modified to use throttle seep governor and have advance curve inject shop should be able to do this adaptor plate or bell houseing may take little work flywheel should be easy to have drillled for auto clutch assy make shure crank is drilled for pilot brg exhaust manifold needs to be for auto use not marine which are water cooled just watch your engine weight most diesels weigh more than gas engines also look at oil pan clearence as you did not say what truck and or engine hard to help more also you may need to look at cooling as lots of marine engines water to water heat exchanger not auto type radiator no big deal you need talk to rad shop

Only if you have experience in building adapter plates and can do much of your work yourself.

but my understanding is that they are engineered to run at a steady rate for extended periods of time, while an automotive diesel is engineered to be tolerant of stop-and-go driving. I'd suggest looking at the older used car lots. I think there have been diesel powered small pickups in the past. you could also look into transplanting a midsize car diesel drivetrain into a pickup. However, I have been told you have to be aware of gear ratios when you do that.
