my 1988 jeep cherokee 4×4 wont shift into gear. i was having clutch problems but now it seems?

that the clutch is fine. i had been shfting with no clutch for a little while and then the cluth came back. now im stuck in neutral and cant shift into any gears. im not sure if its a transmisson problem or a clutch problem.

    Can you change between gears when the vehicle is off? If so the hydraulic system for your clutch could be low on fluid or have a failing component (slave or master cylinder). If you cannot change between gears when the vehicle is off it is probably a problem with the transmission itself.

    Sounds like your slave cylinder went out, or you bent a shift fork shifting with out a clutch.
