My sons 4×4 Ford pickup is shifting into 4×4 driving down the road. Any help would be appreciated.?

It is a 97 F150 automatic with a floor shift and auto locking hubs.

    is you’ree 2wd Light going on from 2wd to 4wd
    if yes …then not hub lock
    my have bad shift motor or shift motor module
    shift motor no1problem seize shift motor or worn out Transfer cause of 4×4 ranger explorer and bronco II
    is it on dash shift Electric or Manuel floor shift
    auto hub or Manuel lock hub
    Standard transmission or auto
    specifier year and model
    i have several of them
    hope this help,,,,,
    check transmission mount and engine mount can cause shifter to move in gear
    there also a vacuum shift motor on front r side of differential that may be seize or diagram busted

    you might want to check your "auto locking" hubs and you might have a problem with the transmission slipping from 2×4 to 4×4 have your mechanic look at it, it also might be a transfer case problem
