Off road tires for a Ford Expedition?

I've got a 2000 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer that needs new tires. The size of the tires is 275/60/17. I would like to put some off-road tires on it, anybody got any recommendations?
How big can I go without having to install a lift kit??

I had OEM BFG all terrains that I would NOT recommend. I owned a 99 Expedition 4×4 that had a new set on when I bought it. I got stuck driving in any off road condition. Check out tirerack.com and fill out the information of the SUV. They have professional and user reviews of every tire. Good luck!
if you can, go bigger, just make sure they are street legal. lift kits are really expensive for that truck and difficult to install because of the independent front suspension.
