Depends on condition of truck, but since all vehicles are a money pit, if the truck is in reasonable good shape I would replace the engine with a good quality rebuilt with a guarantee. This way you will only be out $3,000 or so vs $40,000+ for a new truck. Your choice.
Rebuild a 7.3 is costly. I would not recommend machining the block as there are no liners & there could be problems due to incorrect PH monitoring in the coolant, the cylinder walls may be thin to start with. I would buy a used engine & drive it until it dies. By then the rest of the truck will be tired.
