Squeeling sound comming from belt/accessories?

I have a 1996 F-150 XLT 4×4 with a 5.0L V8 with just over 80K miles on it. I take very good care of it, I had the drive belt replaced about 10K miles ago and for some reason this morning when i started it up it started to squeel. I turned on the a/c and it quited down, then when i turned it off it started again. It squeeled the entire 8 miles to work threwout the RPM range. It doesnt have any tears or rips in the belt. What do you think it is? How often should the drive belt be replaced? Do you think its the a/c compressor?

Thanks

belt loose or the tensioner pulley has gone bad if it didnt stop squealing you now need a new belt and a pulley.. they are known to lock up easy to fix and not real high price for either… a can do at home thing

I would check your tensioner pulley.

The a/c should have added an additional strain on the belt which might indicate more noise. Try oiling the tension pulley and see if that may help. If it doesn’t, then you may need to try a different belt.

Try rubbing soap on the belt while it is running. But be very careful of the fan.

New belts (any piece of equipment, any type belt, any pulleys) will stretch as they age. The belt tension should be checked and adjusted as needed on a regular basis. If the belt is slipping (the squealing noise), it will wear out very quickly if not adjusted, and you’ll have to spend more money for a new one.

Sounds like the bearing in the a/c clutch assembly is going out.

The problem maybe the a.c. compressor clutch.

u may have the ac clutch prob
ac on .clutch is turning comp make it work harder more noise usually
    in you’re case no
take belt off then hand turn pulley to see if noise is there
also check belt if look glaze sing of slipping
u can try to clean it w hose let it dry out b4 u put belt back on
if ok get new belt that one prob glaze
