Off road tires for a Ford Expedition?

I've got a 2000 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer that needs new tires. The size of the tires is 275/60/17. I would like to put some off-road tires on it, anybody got any recommendations? How big can I go without having to install a lift kit??
