What is the best 4×4 to buy that is cheap?

I only have around 1,000 or less to work with and I want a 4×4. Is it best to buy something fullsize like a bronco or fullsize blazer? Or is it better to buy something like a 4×4 pickup? What should I stay away from? Help.

You will not find much under a grand that has 4 wheel drive. The reason is simple- if it runs, it’s road worthy, and has working 4 wheel drive, the absolute base price is about $1200. You will find exceptions, of course, but that’s the way it is in general. Keep looking on Craigslist, look under cars+trucks, set the price at a max of $1000, and see what comes up. That’s the easiest way to do it.

Any 4 x 4 that is anything short of pure junk is going to exceed the price you have set.
The thing you should stay away from is cheap, old, high mileage junk. Unfortunately that’s what a measly grand will buy

Eh for a thousand bills you’re gonna have a hard time finding something THAT good, but I’d look at a K5 Blazer (the huge ones – NOT an S10!!!), a Toyota 4runner or pickup, or something like a Suzuki Samurai… those are all good choices but beleive me: the difference between a $1000 car and a $2500 car can be all the difference in the world!
