The GMC uses a more open grille where the Chevy has a bar that goes through it for the "bowtie". They have different appearance packages with the top of the line Chevy being and LTZ and the GMC being the Denali. They also use different suspension parts on some models with the GMC having a little softer ride. They both get about the same gas mileage and the resale values are very comparable. The GMC has tried to become the "classier" of the two in the past few years having nicer interiors and more chrome on the outside. The biggest difference is the grilles and hoods. Come off the same assembly line. They just get differant badges and other cosmetics so that the GMC's can be sold at Pontiac, Buick, Cadilac, Oldsmobile and Saturn dealers. For some reason they never wanted to sell Chevy trucks at those dealers. Hence, the GMC truck was born. They are the same trucks. Come off the same assembly line.
